Bayanihan Rationale

We are a nation divided. Our people are divided not only because of geographical location but also because of our differences in beliefs and conducts in terms of politics, religion, social class, language, culture, etc. Our Filipino identity is beginning to loss. Even our positive Filipino values such as BAYANIHAN, PAGKAMAKABAYAN, and KABAYANIHAN are beginning to wane. With these divisions and losses, our country is heading to nowhere.

The constitution assures us that sovereignty resides from the people; and all powers emanate from them. But this article of the constitution is trampled by the oligarchs of the country. The Filipino masses, who are the real source of all powers, remain of being abused, exploited and neglected. They are the victims of power play. Those who are in power are becoming more powerful and remain in power. They just trade off their positions from among their families and allies. Those who are rich continue to amass wealth. And the only opportunity for the Filipino masses to become rich is to be able to work abroad.  Still they are exploited but with a better chance to survive.

And where are the Filipino masses today? They continue to become slave in their own country. They are deprived of the basic services like health, education, shelter, clothing and decent livelihood.

Leaders come and go. Their promises of good government and better life to Filipinos remain unrealized. Laws which are meant for the welfare of the people are converted to threats that continues to harass and punish those who are weak and without connection in the government.   They were used only as tools to commit bribery, graft and corruption just to enrich officials running the government.

On all these problems, there’s only one solution and that is, to unite the Filipinos and bring back the power and sovereignty to them. But uniting our countrymen is still a big question. Who has the moral authority to lead? How will unification begin?  From top to bottom or bottoms up?

It seems that we are in a hopeless situation but surrendering is not the solution. We can’t just close our eyes to those issues. If we do, we and our children will continue to suffer more than what we are experiencing today.  Rizal says, the punishment the wise suffers, who refuses to take part in the government, is to live under the government of worst men. For evil to triumph, it is enough that good men will do nothing. A good government is not a gift from God. It is a thing that we must work for, fight for, and if necessary die for.

The journey to a thousand miles begins with the first step. We must unite; we must join together and bring back the power and sovereignty to the people thru BAYANIHAN.  How? When? Where? Kung hindi tayo, SINO? Kung hindi dito, SAAN? At kung hindi ngayon, KAILAN? Join us achieve the mission, vision of the BAYANIHAN.
